Guatemalan cellist and anthropologist, Elisa completed her Master's in Music under the guidance of Professor Ovidiu Marinescu at West Chester University in Pennsylvania and earned an Artist Diploma in Cello Performance from Duquesne University, where she studied with cellist Adam Liu, Associate Principal of the Pittsburgh Symphony.
In Guatemala, she was a student of Maestro Alfredo Mazariegos and pursued her musical studies at the Germán Alcántara National Conservatory of Music.
Elisa has been invited to perform as a soloist on various occasions, and in 2019 she was a finalist in the Wells School of Music Concerto Competition. During her time in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (2020-2023), she performed with several local orchestras, including the Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra, Butler Symphony Orchestra, Akron Symphony Orchestra, and Altoona Symphony Orchestra, among others.
In addition to her performances in Guatemala and the United States, she co-founded the ensemble Puros Cuentos and the Guatemala International Chamber Music Festival, both of which have earned multiple awards.
Alongside her musical career, Elisa is also an anthropologist who graduated from the University of San Carlos of Guatemala, where she was awarded the Myrna Mack scholarship in 2014. She has been part of the Institute of Historical, Anthropological, and Archaeological Research at the University of San Carlos and has been invited to present at various seminars and conferences.
Currently, Elisa teaches cello at the Chevy Chase Arts Academy in Washington, DC, and is a contributor to the podcast Latitud Subterránea.
