Future Musicians is a podcast series for students, their parents, and also their teachers. Pianist, educator, and Chevy Chase Music director Rok Palcic will share his experience and advice in this weekly series. Episodes will include insightful debates, stories, conversations with guest artists and fellow colleagues, as well as some delightful music to conclude each episode.
Episode 1: Choosing the Right Teacher
In this introductory episode of Future Musicians, I talk about the importance of choosing the right teacher. The episode ends with one of my favorite pieces and I hope that you will enjoy listening to it just as much as I have enjoyed performing it!
Episode 2: Building Good Practice Habits
In this episode, I talk about one of the crucial elements of music instruction, practicing. Unlike other after school activities, music requires a considerable amount of effort from students and it is only fair that teachers explain exactly what is expected of them and let them and their parents in on their plans. The episode concludes with one of Shostakovich’s favorite pieces, which is coincidentally one of my mine as well.
Episode 3: Buying the Right Piano
For pianists, there is such a large variety of instruments to choose from. In this episode, I talk about various piano models and give a few pointers to help you make the right decision. The episode ends with Scriabin’s Etude Op. 8, No. 12.
