Rachel Flicker is from Nazareth, PA and began playing piano when she was 3 years old. She is currently attending The University of Maryland to receive her Master of Music degree in Collaborative Piano, under the direction of Professor Rita Sloan. She is currently the collaborative pianist for University of Maryland’s Chamber Singers, under the direction of Dr. Jason Max Ferdinand. In 2023, Rachel graduated Cum Laude from The Penn State University where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance, studying with Dr. Timothy Shafer. 

She recently toured with Penn State’s Glee Club for 10 days in Portugal where she performed with the choir as their pianist. She made her opera debut by playing the harpsichord for Penn State’s Opera Theatre’s production of Dido and Aeneas in 2021, and most recently was the rehearsal and performance pianist for their production of Dialogues of the Carmelites in 2023. She has been the recipient of numerous awards including the Presser Undergraduate Scholar Award, the Sue Haug School of Music Leadership Award, the Valley Family Scholarship, the Schlegel Memorial Scholarship, the Marie B. Ashburn Piano Scholarship, and the Jane Cowell Sheaffer Endowment. 

Rachel has taught private piano lessons at Flicker Music Studio for 9 years. She enjoys teaching students of all ages and levels. It is important to her to create an environment that values personalized instruction, fosters development, and lifelong learning.
